Hometown Hero Snags Richmond Victory!

In a race with a pretty plain beginning and a wild ending, Denny Hamlin took the victory at his home track. Denny Hamlin was able to dominate with his Toyota teammates Matt Kenseth, Martin Truex Jr., and Kyle Busch.
Matt Kenseth would cut a tire down after an apparent contact from Brad Keselowski, Kenseth's day would come to an end relegating him to a 38th place finish.
Ryan Newman and Tony Stewart made things a little more interesting after the two caused the big one on the backstretch involving Dylan Lupton, David Ragan, AJ Allmendinger, Chris Buescher, and Brian Scott. Both Ryan Newman and Tony Stewart were out of the race afterwards. After Newman was released from the infield care center, he stated "Google Tony Stewart. You'll see all kinds of things he's done. Look it up on YouTube everything else. Quite the guy!"
When Denny Hamlin headed to the line to snag the white flag, Regan Smith took a hard hit causing a record 16th caution at Richmond. Denny Hamlin was able to hold off a late charge from Kyle Larson to take his third victory of 2016.

The Motorsports News Source Driver(s) of the Week

If we had to choose one driver as the Driver of the week it would certainly be Chris Buescher but this weekend we would like to award it to Chris Buescher, Jamie McMurray, Austin Dillon, and Chase Elliott.
Majority of these drivers had damage on their cars and it was pure determination and pure instincts to give it their all. Chris Buescher and Chase Elliott both were involved in major wrecks but were able to take advantage of many drivers mistakes and many drivers wrecks to land their cars in the Chase for The Sprint Cup and will head to Chicagoland with a chance at moving to the next round. Congratulations to these four drivers for making the chase and congratulations on becoming the The Motorsports News Source Driver(s) of the Week.

Next Race for The Sprint Cup Series

Cawabunga dude we head to Chicago for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 400 at the Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet Illinois. We have 16 drivers entering with a chance at the Championships and true Championships can't be won or lost at Chicago but you can really dig a hole or solidify yourself into the second round of the chase. Though we have 16 drivers running for the chase we still have 24 drivers who want to win and those drivers could steal a victory. This is when things get good.
