Austin Cindric Returning for Remainder of 16' Season for Cunningham

Cunningham Motorsports announced today that Austin Cindric will return to the team for three ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards events, beginning at Chicagoland Speedway on September 15th. Cindric will also run the September 23rd event at Kentucky Speedway and the October 14th race at Kansas Speedway in the No. 99 PIRTEK Ford Fusion.

Cindric has competed in three ARCA races for Cunningham Motorsports.  He has earned a pole at Pocono Raceway, collected two top-five finishes (Iowa and Pocono) and has led laps in every race.

“I’m really excited to be back racing in the ARCA Racing Series,” said Cindric, who is also scheduled to run select NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) races for Brad Keselowski Racing over the remainder of the season. “I’m working hard to get experience on a variety of ovals and having the opportunity to run these three 1.5-mile tracks with Cunningham Motorsports will go a long way toward helping my development. While each track is the same size, they are vastly different, which is something I need to get used to. Between my ARCA and NASCAR truck experience this year, I feel like I’m becoming a more well-rounded racer.”

“We are always excited to have Austin Cindric back racing with us,” said Kerry Scherer, Managing Director of Cunningham Motorsports. “He is such a diverse, talented young driver.  He has the complete package of driving ability, personality and media presence that will take him far in the racing industry.”

Although he is still a senior in high school, Cindric is already one of the most versatile and unique young drivers you will find anywhere. In the past 18 months, he has driven competitively in over 50 races – spanning five countries – in 13 different types of racecars. He has found victory lane in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, the Red Bull Global Rallycross Lites Championship, the IMSA Continental Tire Series, the Historic Sportscar Racing Series and the Skip Barber Pro Series.  He achieved an X-Games medal in his first rallycross race and is no stranger to speed as he has pole positions in stock cars, rallycross, GT sports cars and open wheel.  Cindric is still the youngest driver to ever compete in Australia’s Bathurst 12-Hour Event and even possesses a Guinness World Record for his Forza 6 talent.

In 2016, Cindric has been gaining as much experience as possible in various NASCAR divisions while competing full-time at the wheel of a McLaren 650S GT3 sports car in the Pirelli World Challenge Series.  In the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, he is two-for-two after leading flag to flag at Watkins Glen following his victory earlier this year at Virginia International Raceway – winning from the pole both times.

The ARCA Racing Series’ SCOTT 150 at Chicagoland Speedway will take place on Thursday, September 15th at 8:00 pm ET and will be televised live on FOXSports1. (Cunningham Motorsports)
