While we gain closer and closer to the NASCAR National Series Chase's, Up north the NASCAR Pinty's Series has a championship battle brewing with three main contenders but just 44 points separating the Top-5 in points. Cayden Lapcevich currently holds the points lead by 12 points over Andrew Ranger. Don't count out Alex Tagliani as he's only 32 points out of the points lead. These three have really been the headline drivers holding 7 of the seasons 9 victories. It really comes down to these three drivers but as we said earlier, there is just 44 points from points leader Cayden Lapcevich and 5th place Kevin Lacroix who has one win this season.
Dumoulin Competition
Also don't count out Mr. Consistency of the last few weeks, L.P Dumoulin who has 4 Top-5's in the last 5 races and enters Canadian Tire Motorsport Park where he has won two times in his career. This could certainly make the 2014 Champion a talk of winning his 2nd title in NASCAR. L.P and Kevin both could capitalize on if Andrew Ranger, Cayden Lapcevich, or Alex Tagliani's bad luck and could land a championship or at least a podium in the points standings.

Also a talk within the Pinty's Series is the 2016 Jostens Rookie Of The Year with both Cayden Lapcevich and Kevin Lacroix both being Championship Contenders in their first full time season in the NASCAR Pinty's Series are not only battling for the Championship but also Rookie of The Year. Cayden Lapcevich currently holds the lead in JROTY points by 9 points over Kevin Lacroix. These two drivers are certainly the future of the NASCAR Pinty's Series and the possibility of these drivers showing up in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series in the near future but could certainly become the next multiple time champions in the series and that could be a very big positive for Canadian Race fans as they will have a name to cheer for over the next decades.
This season, being the first NASCAR Pinty's Series that The Motorsports News Source has covered, has been one of the most entertaining racing seasons I have ever covered. Stay tuned to The Motorsports News Source as the temps drop in Canada but the action heats up. (Koelle,2016)
