On Friday Night, we looked to have yet another Daytona Photo Finish as Aric Almirola and Justin Allgaier came to the line under green but just as they entered the tri-oval the caution was shown because of a wreck on the backstretch that had pretty substantial impacts and NASCAR needed to bring medical attention to a few of the drivers to ensure that everyone was alright. Luckily everyone was but fans were left with a bad taste in their mouth for the second straight Superspeedway Xfinity Race because the race would be ended and frozen due to the caution coming out just within feet of the finish line where the checker flag should have been shown. Two Drivers who could have been locked in to the Xfinity Series Chase are both still searching for that first victory. Brennan Poole and Justin Allgaier now are both looking to win their way into the chase. Though we still have not seen a situation like this in the Cup Series but it could be anytime for them at any track and that is why the Overtime Rule needs to be removed. As I have noted throughout my time talking about this issue there is a way to

fix this and give NASCAR fans their finishes.
If NASCAR was to repurpose the Restart Line as a Guaranteed Finish Line that after drivers pass, we are guaranteed that the finish will be green. If the leaders do not get to that line or pass it and a yellow comes out we restart the race just as the overtime line does now. This is the best way to guarantee that fans will see a green flag finish and more fans would be happy. I personally think that would be the best way to finish races and would give drivers more opportunities to make moments that NASCAR fans will never forget and ones that would possibly give more fans something to talk about at the Water Cooler on Monday at the Office. With that move it would save fans the confusion of finding where the Overtime line as we would with the repurposed Restart Box where most fans know and tracks mark very well. I'd love to hear your opinion on my idea of fixing this problem and if you have any ideas! Comment below or wherever you found this article! (Koelle,2016)
