Joe Gibbs Racing has announced that Dakoda Armstrong will drive the #18 WinField Toyota Camry this weekend at Iowa Speedway for the US Cellular 250.
Matt Tifft was originally scheduled to pilot the #18 Toyota Camry this week with JGR, but his rehabilitation from recent surgery to remove a low-grade glioma will take just a little bit longer giving Dakoda Armstrong a shot behind the winningest car so far in 2016 winning with Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, and Sam Hornish Jr, earlier this year at Iowa.
Armstrong is an Xfinity Series regular with five years of competition under his belt. In that time he has raced in 91 events and recorded four top-10 finishes, one pole and 12 laps led. In the fall of 2015 in the NASCAR XFINITY series Iowa event, Armstrong started in 16th place and finished in the 16th position. In the initial 2016 Xfinity series race at Iowa Speedway, Armstrong started 21st and advanced his position to 17th for race end. (Koelle, 2016; In part from Joe Gibbs Racing)
