Truex Dominates Longest Race of Year for First Win of 2016!

In one of the most dominant performances that I have ever seen in person, Martin Truex Jr. won his 4th career victory. Truex was not going to be denied of the win this weekend and he showed it by leading a track record 392 of 400 laps and a NASCAR record 588 miles in a race. Truex Jr. won from the pole for the first time in 9 tries. Kevin Harvick, Jimmie Johnson, Denny Hamlin, and Brad Keselowski rounded out the Top 5. The only other drivers who led laps included Jimmie Johnson, Joey Logano, and Paul Menard.

NASCAR News Source Driver of The Week

When it comes to dominance Martin Truex Jr. truly showed he was here and that he was not going to let bad luck jump on top of him and steal another win. Truex survived adversity to take his first win of 2016 and continued the never give up attitude. Awesome pit stops, and just a very very fast car was the equation for winning the Coca-Cola 600 and to lead almost every lap of this 600 mile race is certainly a very impressive feat as it's never been done before. Truex beat the previous record by a long shot and in a season filled with record breaking feats there will be more coming! Congrats to Martin Truex Jr. not only on winning the Coca-Cola 600 but also on winning NASCAR News Source Driver of The Week Honors!

Next Race

Next Weekend we will begin to paint the picture of the summer of 2016 with the first race in June called the Axalta We Paint Winners 400 at the Pocono Raceway. The Tricky Triangle. Martin Truex Jr won this race last year but now has a win under his 2016 belt winning in Charlotte. Former Pocono June winners who are currently winless include Dale Earnhardt Jr., Joey Logano, Tony Stewart, and Kasey Kahne. Will one of these drivers take the victory or will we see someone new?
