Ty Dillon Rallies to Secure 20th Place Finish in First Cup Start at TMS

FORT WORTH, Texas (April 10, 2016) – Ty Dillon rallied during the latter part of the Duck Commander 500 to secure a 20th place finish driving the No. 95 Nexium® 24HR Chevrolet SS in his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series start at Texas Motor Speedway.

Dillon, an XFINITY Series regular who is competing part-time with the No. 95 team, drove hard and learned a lot during the Saturday night race on the 1.5-mile speedway.

"Tonight we had a car that was capable of finishing inside the top 20, and that's exactly what we did,” said Dillon.  “Todd (Parrott, crew chief) and the crew made great adjustments and kept up with the changing track conditions. I think the biggest thing I learned tonight was that these races are long, but there still isn't much room for error.”

One major challenge for the team took place on pit road.  The No. 95 team, which qualified 30th for the race, was between the No. 11 and No. 4 race teams on pit road.  Dillon had to dodge their vehicles coming in and out of the pits which added to the time he spent on pit road and resulted in a few lost positions on the race track especially during green flag pit stops.

Dillon raced hard in his No. 95 Chevrolet, which had both loose and tight conditions during the race.  But, by the time the final 75 laps rolled around, crew chief Todd Parrott had dialed-in the No. 95 Chevrolet so that Dillon was running lap times as fast as the leaders and consistently picking up positions on the track.

With five laps to go, Dillon passed the No. 10 car for position on the track and brought the No. 95 Nexium® 24HR Chevrolet SS home in 20th position.

“I enjoyed the opportunity to race in the Sprint Cup Series this past weekend and felt this was a great opportunity to get better as a race car driver and gain valuable experience,” said Dillon.  “I look forward to the next opportunity to race in the No. 95 Chevrolet.”

Circle Sport-Leavine Family Racing will take on Bristol Motor Speedway this Sunday, April 17 with Michael McDowell back behind the wheel of the No. 95 for the Food City 500.  Fans can follow the race team on Twitter at @CSLFR95 for updates. (Circle Sport-Leavine Family Racing)
