Homecoming for McDowell at Phoenix

As the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series runs into Round 2 of the West Coast Swing, Michael McDowell returns home. McDowell, who is from Glendale, AZ, has raced at Phoenix International Raceway many times over his career but this time 2 different feelings face McDowell and his team as he enters in his 11th Phoenix race.
In 10 races at the PIR track in Arizona, McDowell has either driven in a Ford or Toyota. This coming weekend McDowell will race a Chevrolet in front of his home audience for the first time. McDowell entered Daytona with in his opinion with the best car he's ever brought to Daytona. McDowell finished 15th. As McDowell enters his home track I am sure he feels the same as he had at Daytona. Expect the #95 Chevrolet SS to be bound for the Top 15.
McDowell has raced 3 races so far in the 2016 Season and looks to continue the momentum made from Daytona. The teams number one goal is to improve each week and we have seen that. A 15th at Daytona, 33rd at Atlanta, and a 29th at Las Vegas. McDowell's best finish at PIR was a 31st in November of 2014. McDowell's best start was a 12th in 2010.
I would certainly keep my eye on the Circle Sport - Leavine Family Racing #95 as it Strives for improvement. McDowell as the Hometown Kid certainly enters PIR with a different mindset as the past knowing he will race next weekend in California. We look forward to seeing McDowell continue holding his own and hopefully get into the Top 15 soon! (Koelle,2016)
