Despite Cloudy Conditions the sun managed to come out some unlike yesterday. The 2016 ARCA Racing Series made it's season debut today at the World Center of Racing in Daytona, FL. After Monsoon like rains Friday that cancelled the first session ARCA arose with the Florida sun on a new season. True this is not the season opening race but it's the first time that the ARCA Cars made laps at the Daytona International Speedway. With workers still working on the Daytona Rising Project, that should be completed in 2 more weeks, Drivers took there turns at the famed track. Drivers like Lockrow, Gerhart, Townley, Custer made there way around the track under partly cloudy skies. Track was fast too, laps getting turned almost under 47 seconds. Gus Dean who was driving for Mason Mitchell Motorsports had the fastest time during the test while his testing mates, Spencer Boyd and Noah Gragson Rounded out the Top 3! Xfinity Series Driver Dylan Lupton and Sean Corr from Empire Racing helped Mason Mitchell Motorsports form the Top 5 Speeds. During the race both Will Kimmel Racing cars were involved in a wreck causing both Austin Nason and Grant Quinlan to end their test runs early. Kimmel Racing started a trend throughout the garage as teams looked to the sky and looked at the ARCA Scoring Screen and decided to pack up and get ready to leave at the conclusion of the test. ARCA is supposed to run test
number 2 tomorrow but Florida weather is back to being very unpredictable and with an 80% chance of rain and Thunderstorms tonight it is highly possible that teams went one and done today and will move on back to their respective race shops and prepare for their big race before the Sprint Unlimited in Daytona. As far as we know we will be in Daytona for at least the ARCA Lucas Oil 200.
