Jack Ingram - NASCAR Hall Of Fame Spotlight

When it comes to Jack Ingram you think of a nice down to earth guy who was excellence behind the wheel of anything he drove. Never really getting the opportunity to drive a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car is the main reason that you never saw Jack Ingram in victory lane. Majority of Jack Ingram's career was spent in what is now called the NASCAR Xfinity Series where he started the car 275 times. Before there was a Mark Martin or Kyle Busch there was a Jack Ingram. Jack won a total of 31 times in his career in the Xfinity Series. Jack also had 2
Championship Victories along with 2 runner up runs. 122 Top 5's, 164 Top 10's, and 5 Poles highlighted a phenomenal career. His average finish in 10 years in that series was an 11th and average start was an 13th. Jack began in the Xfinity Series when he was just a young 45 years old. That is the age that now a days many people retire at or around. Jack Ingram had the opportunity to drive in the Daytona 500 in 1984 where he drove for Legendary Junior Johnson. In that race Jack was 47 years old but sadly missed the Daytona 500. Throughout his career Jack only made 19 starts in what is now the Sprint Cup Series. In 2009 and 2010 Jack Ingram returned behind the wheel of a race car in the Annual Legends Race at the Bristol Motor Speedway. His best finish in those races came in 2010 when he finished 4th. Jack is one of those drivers who many of today's drivers in the Xfinity Series like Ty Dillon, Chris Buescher, Kyle Busch, among others look up to and try to idolize after. I had the opportunity to meet
Jack a few years ago at a grand opening of a Gander Mountain. He was a very down to earth guy with a great attitude. I am honored to say that I have met Hall Of Famers like Jack Ingram, Bobby and Donnie Allison, Rusty Wallace among the others and it helps me and a lot of fans to remember the past and remember those drivers who helped get NASCAR to where it is today. Be sure to tune into our next NASCAR Hall Of Fame Spotlight featuring Bill Elliott! (Koelle, 2015)
