Throwback Thursday - 2015 Daytona 500

Starting this week ever Throwback Thursday will feature a recap from each race of the 2015 season going by the schedule. We will start with the 2015 Daytona 500. The first points race I attended in 2015!
Joey Logano ran near the front all day and finally overcame Hendrick Motorsports' Chevrolet trio of Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson with nine laps to go. Joey would go on to win his first Daytona 500. Kevin Harvick, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Denny Hamlin, and Jimmie Johnson rounded out the Top 5. The race ended under caution after Joey Logano took the white flag in the first attempt of a green white checker. A huge wreck on the backstretch caused the caution to fly ending the race. That wreck involved Jeff Gordon who was in his final Daytona 500. Many fans critisized the ending saying they should have raced back to the checkered flag!
