Return From The Overgrowth - Nashville Superspeedway Edition

While in Nashville this week for WWE Monday Night Raw me and my parents decided to make a trip to Lebanon, TN where the Closed Nashville Superspeedway sits, waiting for NASCAR or Indy Car to make it's return. This is a track that is pretty is maintained with a new parking lot in the front of the grandstands and grass staying cut in multiple places. This was a track that used to hold NASCAR, Indy Car, ARCA, IRL, among many other racing series. I remember the year I went to the track in 2006 when it was a common Easter Weekend Staple for NASCAR that is now an off weekend. It was a different track compared to the Cookie Cutter Track that we race at commonly now days. The Concrete racing surface was like Bristol and Dover but in the shape of a D like Superspeedways Talladega and Daytona. Now a days it is used for Private use which in most cases is by NASCAR Teams when they
had open testing.
We drove around the track as much as we could with many signs stating Private Property along with Facility Closed, so we did not trespass but we just went around the track. You can certainly tell none of the public events had been held here in a very long time as the Campgrounds that once thrived with Campers and Tents is now thrived by Overgrowth which is a sad sight to see. As far as I know the racing surface is still in pristine condition but we are unaware of that at the moment.
You could also see it being off the schedule for a while by the amount of houses for sale near the track which were many and I am sure the people who bought these houses either worked for Nashville Superspeedway or was looking for this track to be like Kansas where the city would build up around the track but when NASCAR left in 2011 it was like the city went with it.
This was one neat thing to go see
and add pictures to the database that people don't have. If you are a high end person with NASCAR and you are reading this please help this track out! I am sure your Nashville NASCAR Fans would love to see this track back on at least the Truck Series Schedule in the near future as I would because it is very close to my hometown. Nashville is one of the lucky tracks as its not as bad as some of the other tracks like North Wilkesboro and Rockingham and It could certainly turn into one of those
If someone doesn't do something about it. The good sign is that On May 29, 2014, it was announced that NeXovation, Inc. (http://www.nexovation.com) would be purchasing the racetrack and all assets and equipment from Dover Motorsports for $27 million and what we hear the new owners have interest in getting NASCAR and Indy Car back to Nashville along with making it a concert venue! This was one awesome trip to Nashville that was capped off by a trip to the Ole' Nashville Superspeedway. Look for more about the Nashville Superspeedway along with other tracks that have been left behind in the near future. (Koelle, 2015)

  5. Howard Fairgrounds are under maintained not not kept up well enough to house another Nascar Event. As far as the Superspeedway I do not know if it will ever hold another Nascar Event. I would love to see it however I am not hopefull.

  6. This is interesting... This was built as a result of the overgrowth of the 90's... -When the NASCAR execs turned their backs on the smaller, more interesting tracks. They should have modernized the 1/2 mile-1 mile tracks instead of building boring speedways that nobody wants to spend money to see. It seems to me that this should be considered a self inflicted wound that was caused by greed and "businessmen" who had no clue about what once made this sport great. I don't foresee anyone currently in charge changing anything in the near future so I unfortunately believe we will see more of this in the near future.
