Chase Format Could Be Coming to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series

When it comes to playoffs NASCAR does it differently than other sports and that has definitely shown positive impacts on the sport with both on track and off track systems along with grandstands being fuller and the views being up higher than they have been. With that being said talks are among top officials that the chase system could be coming to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in the near future. One scenario that's been discussed would feature eight contenders in a seven-race elimination where two drivers are knocked out after each three-race segment with the four teams battling for the title at Homestead-Miami Speedway. With this idea the chase would begin at New Hampshire and would have it run through tracks like Talladega and Las Vegas. If this chase system was implicated in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series I would think teams would field less rides for drivers like Brad Keselowski, Ryan Blaney, Kyle Busch and others because they would not be eligible and we would have more new talents like Rico Abreu, William Byron, Nicole Behar, and other NASCAR Next Drivers in the Truck Series and then the future of the sport would look a lot more promising than it does now with Cup Regulars coming in and taking new drivers opportunities. The main question with this format
is would it draw more fans in the stands? I think it would more fans would tune into the truck series races if they knew Kyle Busch or Brad Keselowski would be on the Pit Box and not in the Truck. I know Bristol was packed out and for a Truck Race on a Wednesday Night Race that was impressive.
With the 2016 Schedule speculated to have 24 races instead of 23 like years past it might be good to have some change in the Trucks and I feel this change is a good thing in more than one way. (Koelle, 2015)
