Dover came and the team unloaded in a wet Dover, DE. Luckily through everyone's support the team was able to have the smoke damaged car in Dover. Despite no practice and no qualifying Joey Gase drove the #52 car to a 24th place finish! Despite having No Practice, No Qualifying and the car had smoke and water damage many were impressed!
Fire has been bad for the Underfunded teams as in May a section of Leavine Family Racing's shop in Concord North Carolina was destroyed and was left abandoned until repaired. Luckily Team Penske let them use part of their shop to prepare cars for the races until their shop was back to usable conditions. Camp 95, which was a camp Leavine Family Racing had in June in which I attended, was moved from its original location to the Roush Yates Engines due to the Fire.
Despite the fire both teams continue to Thrive in there respective series. Rain has hindered Leavine Family Racing but expect next season to be an even more phenomenal season. Michael McDowell is slated to return to the team with long time sponsors KLOVE and Thrivent and new sponsor Monitronics that recently joined LFR after the Fire. I'm personally proud of both teams for rising from the Embers and Being the successful underdog despite having issues. (Koelle, 2015)
