Blake Koch could be considered a veteran in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. He's competed in at least one race every year since 2009. He's competed for teams like the Late MacDonald Motorsports, SR2 Motorsports, and He currently drives the #8 Leaf Filter Toyota Camry for TriStar Motorsports.
In 2014 Blake made 28 Starts. Most of those 28 were in the #10 which was a Start and Park ride. He raced the #44 to a 18th place finish at Phoenix in November last season. His best finish of the year!
At the beginning of 2015 it was announced that Blake would be piloting the NEW #8 Toyota
Camry with Support from Leaf Filter. Daytona would be a new day for Blake. Qualifying came and well a big incident on the front stretch sent the #8 team running for a backup car. Literally running for a backup. The car was being pushed onto the grid as Blake walked across the Driver Intro Stage. No contengency stickers on the side of the 8 they just went out and ran as hard as possible with what they had. What was sad was when the green flag would be out for a few laps you'd see the field run by then if you'd wait a minute Blake would run by off pace. This would be a good thing at times becuase of the fact alot of big crashes would happen way ahead of Blake and he'd miss damaging another race car. A rewarding 20th place finish would be in order for the #8 team and that would place them a little higher on the points standings!
Qualifying has been good to the #8 team as they have started in about the same place all season which can be a good thing. It can help you understand how you need to get by these cars and what needs to be done. Blake's best finish of 2015 so far has been a 18th twice, Getting one at Daytona and the other at Watkins Glen. Fuel Stratagy helped get leaf filter attention at Road America. Blake led 5 laps until a battery woe sent him to finishing 21st. Blake and The TriStar Motorsports Team have had consistency this season and Blake has definitely improved from last years performance and will definitely keep getting better. At Mid Ohio Blake and Leaf Filter Revealed 2016 plans which included Blake running the full 36 Race schedule for TriStar Motorsports with Leaf Filter Gutter Protection as
a full time sponsor. Be sure to be looking for Blake to Filter out more great finishes in the near future! Since there will be no Truck Series next weekend we will have another Xfinity Series Driver Spotlight featuring Current Xfinity Series Championship Points Leader Chris Buescher!(Koelle, 2015)
