In 1991 Harry Gant raced the #33 Skoal Bandit Oldsmobile in what was then the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. Before 1991 Harry Gant had collected 11 Wins in his Career. 1991 Came and Something Special was on the Horizon for Harry Gant. Harry Gant would come to Talladega on May 6th 1991 starting 2nd for the 2nd straight week. Gant would lead just 18 laps on his way to win the 1991 Winston 500 at Talladega Super Speedway.
Gant wouldn't do better than finish 4th throughout the Summer including a crash at the Same track he won at earlier in the season. Then September came.
On September 1st Harry Gant and His crew announced they were there and they meant business. The Southern 500 in Darlington would be where it all began for Harry Coming from 5th Harry would lead 152 laps on route to Darlington Victory lane but Harry wasn't done winning yet.
On September 7th Harry Gant would do it again this time in Richmond. This time he'd only lead 27 Laps on his way to yet his 2nd Victory in 2 Weeks!
On September 15th the NASCAR Winston Cup Series would return to Dover where Harry Gant would lead an amazing 326 laps en route to his 3rd victory in a row! Many expected his winning to never stop!
Win Number 4 would come at the Paper Clip in Martinsville, VA. where he would battle with Drivers like Brett Bodine, Ernie Irvin, and Rusty Wallace.
The Following weekend Harry Gant would look to continue the streak in North Wilkesboro. He'd win the pole and lead 350 laps. With 9 laps to go the Win Streak would come to an end just like his brakes. Dale Earnhardt would pass Harry Gant with 9 laps to go and would take victory number 5 away from Harry Gant. Still Gant would finish 2nd but it wasn't a win.
Gant would finish 2nd 1 more time in 1991 at Rockingham. He'd also finish 4th in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series points for 1991.
Harry Gant would win 2 more times in his NASCAR Winston Cup Career before Retiring after the 1994 NASCAR Season.
Harry Gant will always be remembered as Mr. September and definitely be a future NASCAR Hall Of Famer!
